PEDC Announces Election of Officers
PEARLAND, Texas — Leadership from the Pearland Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce the election of officers to its Board of Directors. At its December 11th board meeting, the Board elected Dr. Hugh Patton as Chair, Mona Chavarria as Vice Chair, and Reid Wendell as Secretary. The elected officers will assume their duties at the January 30th board meeting.
Hugh Patton, DDS, joined the PEDC board in 2014. He is the owner of Silver Creek Dental. A member of the Pearland Lions Club, he previously served as its president. He also serves as a board member for the 100 Club of Pearland, Texas First Bank Business Development Board, and the Training Advisory Board for the Pearland Police Department. He also serves as a RISE mentor for Pearland ISD, a member of the Pearland Alvin Go Texan Committee and regional team leader for the American Dental Political Action Committee.
Mona Chavarria joined the PEDC board in 2014. She is the president/owner of A&A Cleaning Services in Pearland. A member of the Pearland Rotary Club, she also serves as its treasurer. Other board service includes the Pearland ISD Education Foundation, the Silverlake Lions Club and the City of Houston Mayor’s Literacy Task Force. She also served as past chair and treasurer/secretary of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce, as well as president, vice president and treasurer for the Adult Education Center.
Reid Wendell joined the PEDC board in 2015. He currently serves as vice president of Commercial Banking for Frost Bank. He is also a member of the Pearland Lions Club and a committee member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He also serves as a RISE mentor for Pearland ISD and is on the Scholarship Committee for the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Established in 1995 by the voters of the City of the Pearland, PEDC is the lead economic development group for this thriving, business-friendly community. PEDC focuses on:
- Business attraction, retention and marketing
• Transportation, mobility and infrastructure
• Lower Kirby Urban Center
• Corridors and beautification
PEDC is a non-profit Type B Corporation under the Texas Development Corporation Act and is primarily funded by a half-cent sales tax in the City of Pearland. The seven-member Board of Directors is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Pearland City Council for two-year terms.
